About this surveyWhy PINM is asking, and where the findings go.

The workforce crisis in nursing and midwifery is not a data problem. The data exists. What is missing is the profession’s own account of it, in its own words, independent of any employer or industrial body. That is what this survey is for: to hear directly from nurses and midwives at every stage, in every setting, at home and abroad, about why they came in, why they stay or leave, and when and why they retire.

PINM will publish findings as a National Workforce Report. The evidence will go directly into policy submissions, including the case for reimbursement and recognition of autonomous and independent nursing and midwifery practice. It will also be there to give back to the profession what the profession puts in: a clear, credible picture of what is actually happening, told by the people living it.

This includes nurses and midwives who have left Ireland, those who have left the profession, and those who have already retired.
